Terms of sale

These terms apply when you buy a print from this site. They are written to be read rather than to be got past, and nothing in them removes a right the law gives you as a consumer.

What you are buying

An open-edition giclée pigment print of one of my paintings, on fine art paper, framed or unframed as you choose. Open edition means the run is not numbered and not limited: more may be printed. A print is a reproduction, not an original work, and it is not signed unless the listing says so.

Sizes given are paper sizes. Prints use the whole image rather than cropping it to fit the sheet, so a work whose proportions differ from the paper's will have a white margin on two edges.

A print will read slightly differently from the image on your screen. A screen emits light and paper reflects it; no printer reaches the colours a backlit display can show, and colour reads deeper and quieter on paper. This is a property of printing, not a defect.

Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and include UK delivery. The price you see is the price you pay.

Payment is taken by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never to me — I see that a payment succeeded, what was ordered, and where to send it.

Prices can change, but never for an order already placed. If a price is wrong by an obvious mistake, I will tell you before making the print and you can confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

When the contract is made

Your order is an offer to buy. The contract is formed when I email to confirm the order. If I cannot fulfil it — a file that will not print at the size, a work withdrawn — I will tell you and refund you in full, and no contract comes into existence.

Delivery

UK only, included in the price, dispatched within 30 days and usually within a week. See delivery for the detail.

Cancelling and returning

You have 14 days from the day after delivery to cancel without giving a reason, and you pay the cost of sending the print back. Faulty or wrong prints are a separate matter and cost you nothing. Both are set out in full on returns and cancellation, which forms part of these terms.

Copyright

I own the copyright in every painting and in every print of one. Buying a print buys you the object and the right to keep it, hang it and resell it. It does not transfer copyright, and it does not allow the image to be reproduced, scanned, printed again, or used commercially.

Liability

If I fail to meet these terms I am responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that failure. I am not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses — these prints are sold for domestic and private use.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 are unaffected.

Email anthony@xuereb.co.uk. It reaches me directly and I would much rather sort something out than have you left with a print you are unhappy with.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.

Changes

These terms may change. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
